Events for TUM newcomers
Fit to start your studies in winter 2021
Are you a Bachelor or Master student and are just starting your studies at the TUM? To make your start perfect, we offer introductory events together with the student council.
To make it easier for you to get started at the Technical University of Munich, the Student Council for Maths, Physics and Informatics (MPI) organizes the Study Introduction Days (SET) for Bachelor and Master students. Attend our welcome event, information events, campus tours and pub crawls, and get to know your university, the city, and your fellow students right from the start!
The SET will take place from 14th to 18th October 2021.
Events of the Department of Mathematics
For first year students of the Bachelor in Mathematics, we organize Lehr- und Lernformen (L&L; forms of teaching and learning). In a trial lecture and first exercises, you learn how to follow-up lectures and edit exercises. Student tutors show suitable solution strategies, and you can make initial contacts at the Department of Mathematics.
In addition, you have the opportunity to take mathematics preparatory courses in the fields of mathematics, physics, informatics, electrical and information technology, mechanical engineering as well as civil engineering and surveying, which will optimally prepare you for your studies.
New undergraduate students also have the opportunity to participate in the Mathematics Mentoring Program. In the presentation shown at the Bachelor Infocafé on 10 August, you'll find additional information, as well as the welcome video by Professor Zimmer.
Events for international students
Moreover, there are special introductions, where Julia Cyllok will give you an insight into the studies at the TUM, the German study system and further practical information on topics ranging from sports offers to German language courses.
Introduction to Examination Regulations for the Master's Programs
If you are starting with your master's program this winter, we have collected some important information for you in an introductory video. In addition, we will be offering an online Q&A session on zoom on Friday, 15 October at 16:00 Uhr (meeting ID: 627 3085 1885, passcode: 800384).
For you as a new member of the TUM family, a new and inspiring phase of their lives begins. President Thomas F. Hofmann warmly welcomes you to our university – with the first-years’ event "Welcome@TUM". The first-years’ event will take place on 18 October 2021 at 17:00 in the open air on the square facing the Department Building Mathematics & Informatics at Garching Campus. Simultaneously, the event will be streamed live on this website.
