Data Science certificate program
Professional education for Data Scientists

The Department of Mathematics offers the Data Science certificate program at the TUM Institute for LifeLong Learning. "Data Science" introduces modern computational methods to manage, process, and visualize data and to communicate their results.
Content and schedule
The program combines the latest research results with findings and challenges from practice. Experienced lecturers from our Department demonstrate the relevance of the developed skills in selected application examples. Participants will learn about
- fundamental statistical principles,
- broadly useful statistical methods,
- state-of-the-art prediction methods from machine learning, and
- optimization and randomization tools that help them to tackle large-scale data-analytic problems.
The hybrid format combines networking opportunities on-campus with digital elements. The course is divided into six modules. The dates will take place between 24 June and 23 July 2022. Prof. Mathias Drton and Professor Matthias Scherer are scientifically responsible.
After successful completion of the final exam, participants will receive a certificate from the Technical University of Munich. You will find further information on Data Science certificate program.
Who is the program for?
The Data Science certificate program aims at professionals that wish to develop or deepen existing expertise in Data Science, as they e.g. currently hold or wish to gain a position as Data Scientist or Data Analyst in Consulting, Finance, Insurance or Tech Sectors, among others.
The TUM Institute for LifeLong Learning has developed this unique certificate program in close cooperation with professors from our Department. Our experts will support participants in building business relevant know-how in Data Science – from developing profound methodological competencies to providing a deep understanding of statistical principles.
