Event series: The 7 great adventures in mathematics
From spring to fall 2022, the Germany-wide event series "The 7 Greatest Adventures in Mathematics" is dedicated to the Millennium Problems. One venue is in the Munich Residence.
Barbara Wohlmuth appointed member of Leopoldina
The Leopoldina, the National Academy of Sciences, has elected Professor Barbara Wohlmuth as a member. It is one of the highest scientific honors of a German institution. Congratulations!
ERC Advanced Grant for Fabian Theis
Professor Fabian Theis receives an Advanced Grant from the European Research Council for his project "DeepCell". The goal: using machine learning to predict the effects of drugs on cells.
In memory of Armin Leutbecher
On 21nd January 2022, Prof. Armin Leutbecher died at the age of 87. He was a highly dedicated and successful member of the Department of Mathematics. An obituary by Prof. Jürgen Scheurle.
New stars in the field of mathematical finance
In its ranking "Quant Finance Master’s Guide 2022", the Risk Magazine has highlighted two new members of our Department as "star signings" – Professor Blanka Horvath and guest lecturer Dr. Hans Buehler.
