Bei Siemens Advanta Consulting arbeite ich seit Juni als Werkstudentin in dem Data Analytics Team. Während meiner Arbeit durfte ich meine ersten Erfahrungen in einem Beratungsunternehmen sammeln und gleichzeitig mein bereits vorhandenes Wissen über Data Science bei abwechslungsreichen Aufgaben anwenden. Hauptsächlich habe ich Visulisierungen komplexer Business KPIs in Tableau erstellt. Außerdem durfte ich bei vielen Projekten unterstützen, wodurch ich einen Einblick in diverse Problemstellungen und Lösungsstrategien erhalten habe. Beispielsweise habe ich bei einem der Projekte, bei dem es um eine Klassifizierungsaufgabe für Preisempfehlungen ging, die Feature-Erstellung und Modellbewertung in Python übernommen.

uring my internship at Huawei, I worked to develop a mechanism to help with load balancing for a commercial parallel MIP solver. By adapting the ideas from a recent paper, we may be able to make somewhat reliable predictions on the sizes of subtrees that arise in a Branch-and-Bound algorithm. For this we used techniques and ideas from time series analysis as well as machine learning. To achieve this we collected data from solver runs, processed it and then curated it for training. We also experimented with different machine learning models to varying degrees of success.

I have been working as a business and data analyst working student at Infineon technologies. As a part of the digitalization team of the Power Systems and Sensors (PSS) department, my role has been to extract valuable insights from customer data using machine learning techniques. During my time at Infineon, my main project has been to aid in the decision making within the quality management of Infineon's products. Using machine learning techniques, the goal of my project has been to reliably and accurately classify customer complaint data into distinct categories. Each complaint represents a defective purchase made by the customer. Based on the information provided by the customer on the defect, the aim is to classify the defect as either a defect caused by the customer or a defect caused by Infineon. Previously, this classification was made by an expert in the field of complaint management. With the use of machine learning, this project aims to aid the expert in their classification and, ultimately, automate this classification process once our model has achieved an accepted reliability standard.

My internship (working student) took place at Knorr-Bremse Systeme für Nutzfahrzeuge in its headquarters in Munich. It is an industrial company that specializes in braking and control systems for commercial vehicles. I supported the Operations and Overhead Controlling Team for over a year. During my internship, I was involved in financial analysis of cost deviations for different locations, plant operating costs analysis, budget planning using SAP and many other tasks. I gained a valuable experience in financial controlling, different reporting structures and developed my soft skills during interpersonal communication with colleagues in both German and English.

I have been working as an academic assistant at the research facility and neutron source Heinz Mayer-Leibniz Zentrum (MLZ) on the Garching campus for several months (first from June to September 2022, and now since November 2022) on a 10/hr per week contract. I applied for the position after taking reactor physics courses as part of my minor in nuclear engineering. My tasks have been focused on hepling with the neutronics calculations necessary to prove the feasibility and safety of a new design for the reactor within the research facility, employing fuel with lower enrichment. Specifically I have worked on simulating the transient behavior of the reactor in case of reactivity insertions, both with deterministic and probabilistic tools. Aside from learning a lot about computational nuclear engineering in particular, and the workings of the codes I used, I feel like I expanded my general programming and nuclear engineering expertise. I have been exposed to the procedures necessary to build and license a nuclear reactor, and the ways the people who work in the industry go about complying with them. I have also been able to attend meetings and conferences with scientists and engineers from other resarch centers around the world, some of whom collaborated with us on the conversion effort. Throughout, I have been helped by my previous studies (my bachelor's degree was in physics).

I‘m doing a full-time internship as a data analyst in the operations department of Henan Yuze Logistics Co., Ltd. This logistics company integrates freight station operations, cargo transportation, warehousing services, etc. I've already finished almost half of my internship, which will run for a total of four months. My main task is to use Python and other tools to clean, organize, analyze and visualize the company's business data, and create business analysis reports on this basis, so as to guide the planning of logistics business processes and logistics solutions digitally, monitor the abnormal points of various operational data and quickly locate internal problems or uncovered opportunities. I now have a comprehensive understanding of the logistics sector and recognize the value of data to it thanks to this internship. I also have a better strategy for my professional future.

I did an internship as a student consultant at Capgemini Invent at the Intelligent Process & Performance department. With my team we optimized the delivery process of a truck manufacturer with the goal to reduce delays in delivery time. This part of the project lasted three months and the aim was to produce a minimal viable product (MVP), upon which the board of the company would decide whether to expand the project further. Since it was an MVP, we worked with flat files (while the goal in the future is to work with live data) and we connected these to the Celonis software. The different process steps, that we defined together with the truck manufacturer, were then described in the Celonis software using Vertica SQL. Then, the pain points of the process were validated and analyzed in frontend using PQL. As part of the solution a dashboard was built, notifying employees when they needed to take action. Now the project started with the second phase, using a live data connection.

The Munich Re is the worldwide largest reinsurer. During my time as an intern there I was able to learn a lot with respect to reinsurance contracts. Even more so though I got the opportunity to learn another programming language, R. In the first week I had to learn the general structure and basic tools of R that are frequently used, namely the packages 'validate','dplyr','plotly','ggplot2' and many more. After I got a good grasp of them I was ready to start with the creation and documentation of my own selfwritten package. It mainly functions as an extension of the 'validate' R package. In explicit, it displays the validation result of a dataframe against a set of prewritten rules in a much more userfriendly and convenient way. During the creation, the package grew in complexity as we extended the usability of it. At the end, we ended up with a package that already has its uses in the Munich Re environment. An open source version might be planned for the future.

My internship position is a full-time position at the Data & IT department, with the focus on data analysis / data science. I have been part of several use cases, namely analyzing online sales, complaints that escalated and currently I am dealing with large losses due to fire claims. My work consists of using data visualization and machine learning techniques in Python. By working in this company I got some insights into how such an insurance company works and what they need to deal with in this field.

During the time I spent as a working student at Allianz SE in the Credit Risk Analysis team, I was given a wide variety of tasks. I was involved mainly in the Data Quality sector and communicated with subsidiaries of Allianz SE and resolved on a monthly basis data quality- related issues using R to modify the data and VBA-based tools to process and assess it. I also prepared reports using a SQL-based Database and helped with different portfolio analyses. In the last months I worked tightly with Allianz Technology to help develop and test a new tool, that will reduce the workload and the time spent on managing data quality and presented the results in front of my whole team. During my time at Allianz SE, I learned a lot not only about the sphere of Credit Risk,investment management and some reinsurance topics, but also developed my communication skills, became more confident in presenting my results and ideas and became very familiar with the corporate world.

Ich bin als Praktikant bei Siemens Technology in der Abteilung Autonomous Systems & Control tätig. Gegenstand meiner Arbeit ist das Problem anhand relativer Messdaten von verschiedenen Roboterposen zueinander die einzelnen Roboterposen möglichst genau zu bestimmen. Dabei bezeichnet eine Roboterpose die Position und Orientierung des Roboters im Raum zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt. Hierzu werden die Roboterposen aufgrund der Ungenauigkeiten in den Messungen mit Wahrscheinlichkeitsdichten bedingt auf den relativen Messdaten bezüglich anderer Posen modelliert. Dies lässt sich dann in einem sogenannten Faktorgraph darstellen, anhand dessen ein Optimierungsproblem formuliert werden kann, um die maximal wahrscheinlichen Roboterposen zu ermitteln.
