On this site, we provide information on the Gender and Diversity objectives and services both of the Mathematics Department and the TUM in general.

Programs and Services of the Mathematics Department

  • Global Challenges for Women in Math Science: This program seeks to incentivise women to pursue their mathematical career at graduate and postgraduate levels and advance opportunities for female researchers. It is aimed at female pregraduate students as well as female doctoral candidates, post docs and professors. Further information can be found on the following webpage: Global Challenges for Women in Math Science.

  • Flexible childcare: The TUM Mathematics and Informatics Departments offer childcare for students and employees with children in the Kinderzimmer (Children’s rooms). This service is meant to serve as a complementary service to your main childcare and is booked at the beginning of each semester. It is also possible to make individual bookings on short notice with at least one day’s advance notice, if space allows. If required (in case of appointments or lectures outside regular care hours, for example), flexible childcare is offered in some of these rooms. You can find further information here.

  • The Women's Representative at the Mathematics Department offers counsel and advise in all questions regarding the equal rights of women and men as well as family services at our Department. Contact persons and further information can be found here.

  • International PreDoc Program in Mathematics: We encourage outstanding students with a Bachelor Degree from outside Germany who wish to pursue their PhD at our Department to apply for admission already at a Masters level. As PreDoc, you have early access to many aspects of the Faculty's Graduate Programs and have special financing possibilities. Further Details: PreDoc Program in Mathematics
